Length Of Stay

Length Of Stay

One of the first questions families ask when researching treatment is how long rehab actually takes. Many programs are built around fixed tracks, often 30, 60, or 90 days, regardless of how a client is actually progressing. At Windmill Wellness Ranch, we take a different approach: length of stay is determined by each client’s individual needs, history, and treatment goals, not a predetermined calendar.

Treatment Built Around Goals, Not a Calendar

Every client who comes to Windmill Wellness Ranch arrives with a different set of circumstances, so every treatment plan looks different too. Rather than discharging clients on a fixed day count, our clinical team reviews progress multiple times a week and uses outcomes measured by Trac9 to determine when a client is truly ready to move to the next stage of recovery.

Our residential treatment program and overall treatment philosophy are both built around this same principle: discharge planning based on goals, not days.

Extended Care for Clients Who Need More Time

For clients who benefit from additional support after completing primary treatment, Windmill Wellness Ranch also offers extended residential care. During this time, clients continue building recovery skills and interpersonal skills, while learning to manage underlying mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and mood disorders that can otherwise put sobriety at risk.

Clients working through extended care often continue working with a personal recovery coach to stay accountable to their goals as they transition toward independence.

Continuing Care After Discharge

No matter how much time a client spends with us, participating in continuing care after discharge is critical to maintaining sobriety. Every client leaving Windmill Wellness Ranch is referred and encouraged to continue with follow-up care suited to their next stage of recovery.

Depending on individual needs, that may include our aftercare program, intensive outpatient program, or transitional and sober living. Every client’s treatment is also backed by the Windmill Guarantee, so support doesn’t end the day treatment does.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does rehab typically last?

Many treatment programs are built around standard 30, 60, or 90-day tracks. Windmill Wellness Ranch doesn’t discharge clients based on a fixed calendar; length of stay is determined by each client’s individual needs and progress toward their treatment goals.

Does Windmill Wellness Ranch offer extended care beyond the initial treatment stay?

Yes. For clients who need more time, Windmill Wellness Ranch offers extended residential care focused on recovery skills, interpersonal skills, and underlying mental health conditions that can affect long-term sobriety.

Who decides when I’m ready to complete treatment?

Our clinical team reviews each client’s progress multiple times a week and uses outcomes measured by Trac9 to guide decisions about readiness, rather than relying on a set number of days.

What happens after I complete treatment at Windmill Wellness Ranch?

Every client is referred and encouraged to participate in continuing care after discharge, which may include our aftercare program, intensive outpatient program, or transitional and sober living, depending on individual needs.

Is a longer stay in treatment more effective than a shorter one?

Research generally shows that longer engagement in treatment is associated with better outcomes, but the right length varies by individual. Our team continually assesses each client’s progress to determine the right timeline rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
